Former PM KP Sharma Oli has issued a letter addressed to Nepal’s Gen Z generation from Shivapuri barracks

Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has issued an emotional letter addressed to Nepal’s Gen Z generation from Shivapuri barracks, where he is currently residing under army protection. In his message, Oli reflected on his past struggles, sacrifices, and his firm stance on protecting Nepal’s sovereignty and democratic system.

Oli began his letter with a personal tone, recalling his affection for children and the pain of losing his own due to past political violence. He wrote:

“प्रिय जेन्जी बाबुनानीहरू,

आज शिवपुरीको यो एकान्त सुरक्षाघेराभित्र बसेर, नेपाली सेनाका जवानहरूको बीचमा, म तिमीहरूलाई सम्झिरहेको छु। मेरो मनमा तिमीहरूकै अनुहारहरू नाचिरहेका छन्… जब मैले सुनेँ, प्रहरीको गोलीले मेरा छोराछोरीहरूको जीवन समाप्त भयो, त्यस दिनदेखि मेरा लागि धेरै कुराहरू सकिएका छन्।”

He emphasized his consistent support for peace during his political career:

“२०५१ सालमा जब म गृहमन्त्री थिएँ, त्यो मेरो कार्यकालमा राज्यको तर्फबाट एउटा पनि गोली चलेन। म सधैँ शान्तिको पक्षमा उभिएँ, किनकि मैले आफ्नै जीवनमा हिंसाको क्रूरता भोगेको छु।”

Oli, however, warned that the current protests were being manipulated by deeper conspiracies:

“तिमीहरूको निर्दोष अनुहार देखाएर, तिमीहरूको भावनामाथि खेलेर गलत राजनीति गर्ने प्रयास भइरहेको छ। देशका महत्त्वपूर्ण रेकर्ड भएका कार्यालयहरूमा आगजनी गर्ने, कारागारबाट कैदीहरू छोड्ने जस्ता गतिविधिहरू यत्तिकै भएका होइनन्। यी सबै पछाडि गहिरो षड्यन्त्र लुकेको छ।”

Reaffirming his “stubborn” political stands, Oli highlighted his insistence on Nepal’s territorial integrity and national identity:

“लिपुलेक, कालापानी र लिम्पियाधुरा हाम्रो हो भनेर मैले जिद्दी नै गरेको हुँ। शास्त्रहरूमा उल्लेख भएअनुसार भगवान् श्रीराम भारतमा होइन, नेपालमा जन्मिएका हुन् भनेर मैले जिद्दी नै गरेको हुँ।”

He added that he could have lived an easier life by compromising, but chose instead to dedicate his life to the nation:

“लिम्पियाधुरा समेटिएको नेपालको नक्सा संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघमा नपठाएको भए या अरूले मलाई चलाउन चाहेअनुसार चलिदिएको भए मेरो जीवन अर्कै मोडमा पुग्ने थियो। तर, मैले त आफूसँग भएको सबै सम्पत्ति राज्यका नाममा गरिदिएको छु। पदमा रहने या नरहने भन्ने कुरा मेरा लागि कहिल्यै ठूलो भएन। मेरो लागि सबैभन्दा महत्त्वपूर्ण त यो व्यवस्था जोगाउनु हो।”

Concluding his letter, Oli appealed to Gen Z to safeguard the hard-earned system of democracy:

“यो व्यवस्था, जसले तिमीहरूलाई बोल्ने, हिँड्ने, प्रश्न गर्ने अधिकार दिएको छ, यसलाई बचाउनु नै मेरो जीवनको मूल उद्देश्य हो। व्यवस्थाको विषयमा कुनै सम्झौता हुँदैन भन्ने मैले विश्वास राखेको छु।”
