Kathmandu, September 10, 2025 — United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep concern over the recent unrest in Nepal, particularly the human casualties resulting from the Gen Z protests. He has called for all parties involved to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent further escalation.
In a social media statement, Guterres emphasized the importance of adhering to human rights laws and conducting peaceful demonstrations that respect life and property. He urged the government, protesters, and all stakeholders to work towards a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
The UN Secretary-General's remarks come at a critical time when Nepal is navigating a political vacuum following the resignation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and several ministers. The caretaker government is currently managing day-to-day affairs, while Parliament seeks to appoint a new leader.
